Three hundred appearances for a single football club is a milestone that very few players ever reach. When you consider that Will Stocks has achieved it by the age of just 29, it becomes all the more remarkable.
Will made his debut for his hometown club, Southwell City, twelve years ago, and like many young players finding their feet, there were seasons early on where first team opportunities were limited. But rather than drift away or seek football elsewhere, he kept his head down, kept working, and kept coming back. To accumulate 300 appearances requires far more than just ability. It demands commitment, consistency, dedication and a loyalty that goes beyond simply turning up on a Saturday afternoon. Over those twelve years, Will has developed enormously as a player and played a significant part in the progress this club has made.
It is no secret that the Stocks family and Southwell City go hand in hand, and it is plain to see how proud they are of what Will has achieved here.
Before our last home match, first team manager Jonny Upton presented Will with a trophy to commemorate the occasion, a fitting moment of recognition in front of his home crowd.
Will, congratulations from the chairman, committee, management, teammates and every supporter who has watched you pull on the shirt. Three hundred appearances is a wonderful achievement. We hope there are plenty more to come.
